Seaside boutique hotel concept

VELA

VELA is a hotel experienced in glimpses. Low sand-white guest pavilions rest around a shallow reflective basin beside the sea. Between them, tall, almost transparent fabric screens hold the light and alternately reveal and conceal the horizon as guests cross slender paths. One green island anchors the composition. At arrival, the veils become a threshold; in the restaurant and spa, they create changing degrees of intimacy. Sheer bed canopies carry the same idea into the rooms. The palette stays close to pale stone, flax and pearl-white fabric, with deep green as its single strong colour. Small real pearls set into selected pale-stone countertops make the light tangible at hand scale. After sunset, concealed amber light lets the screens glow against the water.

My role
Concept and creative direction - project narrative, guest journey, spatial idea, colour and material palette, lighting direction, and art direction of the concept visualisations. Unbuilt concept study; visualisations do not represent a completed building or technical construction drawings.
